MS Living Library exists because Paul Jones and the original contributors built All About Multiple Sclerosis at mult-sclerosis.org.

Credit where it belongs

The original site brought together plain-English explanations, an MS encyclopedia, a substantial news archive and carefully organized links. Its purpose was to help people with MS, their families and carers understand the condition.

Paul Jones is identified as the author in the homepage metadata and signs the original About page. That page also thanks Caroline Stone for supporting the project and organizing its charitable work, Frank Dubois for collecting much of the news, and many other named contributors.

How it began

In the About page dated 3 December 2001, Paul describes starting the site in late November 1999 as “Laetoli Man’s Multiple Sclerosis Pages.” He explains that its growth had made it more than a full-time job and describes plans for the Multiple Sclerosis Information Trust to support it.

His stated priorities included readable information, editorial independence, a simple interface and ways to enlarge the text. Those priorities remain central to this restoration.

What this restoration does

We are recovering informational pages from Internet Archive captures, preserving source links and recording which pages remain missing. We are updating how the collection is organized and presented. Recovery does not establish that historical medical information is current.

The original individual personal-story pages are not part of this restoration. New MS Journeys are a separate, permission-based contribution program with editorial review.

Authorship and responsibility

Original writing remains credited to its original authors. New restoration notes and interface text belong to the restoration project. This is not a claim that Paul or the original contributors operate, endorse or medically review the new site.

Preserving the record

The original pages and their capture dates are preserved in the restoration records. Our aim is to make the recovered collection readable here in full.
